The Ranch

The QB Ranch, formally a part of the historic Four Sixes Ranch, is located in King County, Texas in an area that is known to produce trophy-class bucks. The ranch is south of Highway 222 between Knox City and the town of Guthrie. Several creeks feed a number of the many ponds including the 350 acre lake that the QB has stocked with Florida bass and crappie.

First-class fully enclosed box blinds, feeders and food plots have been placed in strategic locations throughout the canyons, rolling hills, and mesquite flats. The primary purpose of operation for the QB Ranch is trophy wildlife rather than cattle ranching as is the case on the majority of ranches in Texas.

The QB Ranch is 20,000 acres of wildlife and habitat management who’s sole purpose is to provide the best hunting operation we can provide and yet still be an accessible destination for corporate outings as well as the individual just wanting the best legitimate hunting opportunity to take a trophy whitetail buck as well as the other wildlife that are managed for quality on the QB Ranch. Wildlife management, feeding programs, habitat improvement, and brush control are continuing operations on the ranch to persist in our effort to improve the habitat and wildlife of the QB Ranch.

We at the QB Ranch are dedicated to the singular goal of producing quality trophy hunts for our clients. Our success in achieving that goal lies in our first-class personnel, good accommodations, great hunting area, and most important, thorough management of our wildlife resources to prevent “over hunting” and permit the animals to reach trophy-class maturity. Consistent with this philosophy, we offer a limited number of hunts that are determined from surveys conducted each September and January. Each hunter may be asked to harvest a doe for each buck that is taken so that we can maintain our 1 to 1 buck to doe ratio. Each hunter is asked to try to take a mature buck 5 1/2 years old or older so as to allow our younger bucks to reach their full trophy potential. This philosophy provides you and future clients with one of the most enjoyable hunts and outdoor experiences of your life. It is our promise to provide our clients with a quality experience. Each individual in our organization will put forth 100% effort in attaining your goal and ours, for every customer to have a enjoyable and memorable hunt, make new friends, see and observe wildlife of all types, and have the opportunity to harvest a great trophy buck, hog or turkey.

Welcome To The QB

The historic QB Ranch offers almost 20,000 acres of prime wildlife habitat. Located in King County, three hours northwest of Ft. Worth, Texas. The ranch terrain is made up of rugged canyons with cedar and shin oak covered ridges. Rolling hills lead to steep slopes, some bordered by creeks that feed our large lakes and many ponds and flow through several thousand acres of mesquite flats filled with trophy whitetail. Our lakes and ponds not only provide a great stopover for waterfowl along the central flyway but also have been stocked with Florida-strain black bass and crappie. Creeks, canyons, steep slopes, rolling hills, and mesa tops – all of this, added to the abundant wildlife and sporting activities, make this place truly special.

Elk On The QB Ranch TX

Most of the ranch is made up of what was formally a part of the historic Four Sixes Ranch. It was named QB for what was known as the Quail and Buck pasture as wild game was abundant on this part of the famous ranch. The QB with its incredible terrain and abundant game was much better suited for a hunting ranch than a cattle operation. Hunting had not been allowed on the property for other than family and a few close friends such as President “Teddy” Roosevelt who was allowed to hunt coyote and wolves in 1905.

After the purchase of the QB the ranch was put into an extensive wildlife management program. We now have over four hundred game feeders that are stocked year round. Approximately 4,000 acres were put under high fence and stocked with the highest quality game and exotics including a large herd of elk with many great 6×6 or better bulls. A resident herd of buffalo and Watusi cattle roam freely over most of the ranch. The whitetail population is plentiful and virtually untouched making the QB one of the best whitetail hunting ranches in the state of Texas. The natural genetics on the ranch are tremendous, as this area of Texas continues to produce some of the state’s largest whitetail taken each year.

Elk Swimming On The QB Ranch

The food sources, nutrition, habitat and genetics have all been improved, making the QB Ranch in King County, Texas, a ranch that will consistently offer each and every year a legitimate chance at taking a trophy animal as well as providing a great setting for an enjoyable outdoor adventure. The QB Ranch will continue to prepare and put forth all the necessary hard work and effort that it takes to provide you with the opportunity of a lifetime to take your trophy animal, have an exciting hunt, and provide an enjoyable stay with great food and even better hospitality.
